The opening visual from the movie 'Any Given Sunday' shows a quote from the famous Vince Lombardi saying, "I firmly believe that any man's finest hour - his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious."
There were no questions in regards to player efforts and their relentless desires to win Super Bowl XLVII. What seemed to be a very dominating first half of football by the Baltimore Ravens, turned into a real slugfest between them and the San Francisco 49ers midway through the second half. Football fans all over the world had been anticipating this matchup for many weeks. The hype surrounding this event could never have been much greater.
Super Bowl XLVII brought all the goods and then some. No one knew what was about to take place on this past Sunday afternoon; not even the players or their coaches. However, one thing for sure was EA Sports ‘Madden NFL 13’ has been right on eight out of ten Super Bowl predictions. They predicted the Baltimore Ravens coming out victorious and winning by three points. They predicted Joe Flacco winning the game's MVP Award as well.
Madden NFL 13 also had Anquan Boldin and Frank Gore both scoring touchdowns and was nearly perfect in predicting QB Colin Kaepernick’s stat line. He went 16-28 with one touchdown and a pick in Super Bowl XLVII, just two incompletions and one pass attempt short of the prediction total. In addition, the prognosis also correctly included an Ed Reed interception as the only pick in the game. Where did ‘Madden NFL’ find their crystal ball? This is really getting scary.
The only two things missing from ‘Madden NFL 13’ prophecies was; Pop music superstar Beyonce’ halftime performance. Wow! What a performance. She was absolutely sensational and her best performance to-date in the opinions of many. Beyonce’ fans, were also surprised with an added cameo from her ole’ days with Destiny’s Child sidekicks Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. They set the stadium on fire. Some say it was the best performance during any Super Bowl since the late Great 'King of Pop' Michael Jackson last performed. What a show.
The other prediction that didn’t quite show up in their crystal ball was the power outage. Half of the lights in the entire stadium shut down. For thirty-minutes or so, everything went to a complete stand-still. This delay totally changed the momentum of the game. Ravens were dominating in all areas until this blackout. The 49ers took an advantage of the power outage and the long delay and were able to refocused their game plan. They fired back with deadly intentions and nearly pulled it off. This game went down to the wire. What a Super Bowl event to encounter. There has been nothing like it in the history of the sport—and probably never will be.
