Brandon Fields, Matt Prater, Andy Lee, Robbie Gould and Justin Tucker were named as the top-five rated kickers and punters in the upcoming “Madden NFL 15” video game, Electronic Arts revealed on their official site today.
With all the added focus on the defense in “Madden 15,” kickers and punters have never been so important to the overall gameplay experience.
Miami Punter Fields was ranked number one with a 96 rating for a Dolphins team that punted the ball 85 times, tied for seventh most in the NFL in 2013.
Denver’s Matt Prater was the highest ranked place kicker in the game with a 95-rating, thanks to a 25/26 performance for the season on the explosive Broncos offense.
The 49ers Lee was ranked third overall with a 95 rating, a fair assessment of a punter who is a three-time All-Pro.
The Bears’ Robbie Gould was ranked fourth with a rating of 93, despite his 12th best FG percentage in the league in 2013. EA said his rating had to do with his dependability in awful field conditions in Chicago.
The Ravens Tucker rounded out the top five with a 93 rating. Tucker was tied with New England Kicker Stephen Gostkowsku last season with 38 field goals on 41 attempts, with an impressive 61-yarder as his long, second only to Prater’s 64-yarder for the longest of the season.
“Madden 15” is set for an August 26 release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One home gaming consoles.
