Sporting his signature bowl haircut and unbelievable physique in the trailer, Lee looks the part of a mixed-martial artist in a next generation console fighting game. Unleashing his signature jabs, kicks and an arm-bar in the video, EA has spent considerable time nailing down Lee’s legendary fighting style.
“When you’re playing as Bruce Lee, we want to make sure that you feel that speed, that power, that agility that he was known for,” said EA’s Brian Hayes in the trailer. “We want to make sure that when you’re controlling Bruce Lee in the octagon, that you feel like ‘The Dragon.”
Lee was originally announced as a pre-order bonus character for EA Sports’ upcoming UFC game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in early April.
Lee is no stranger to the video game scene, but this will be his first appearance in a game in over a decade. His role in UFC will be his first official appearance in a video game since the XBox’s “Bruce Lee: Quest of the Dragon” in 2002 and the Game Boy Advance’s “Bruce Lee: Return of the Legend,” in 2003.
According to the UFC’s Dana White, Lee’s appearance in the game was a must.
“I think the sport of Mixed-Martial Arts was started by Bruce Lee,” White said in the trailer. “His image is very powerful.”
EA Sports' UFC title is set for a June 17 release on the PlayStation 4 and XBox One.
