E-Verify bill clears Iowa House panel

Des Moines, IA - On Tuesday, the House Judiciary Committee approved a measure requiring businesses to use the federal identification and eligibility program known as E-Verify for all potential employees.

The bill (House File 2156) also provides a 10-day license suspension for any business found with illegal aliens in their employ. A second violation within three years would result in permanent revocation of their business license.

HF 2156 which the Committee passed with a 13-8 vote, now moves to the full House floor.
