The E.U. expressed its support for Obama’s alleged peace plan that would call for Israel to surrender about half its nation, including about half of Jerusalem, to Palestine, according to the Jerusalem Post on Friday.
The E.U. has apparently chosen to ignore the fact that the newly merged Palestinian Hamas-Fatah government is demanding preconditions before they would be willing to negotiate. Palestinian authority Mahmoud Abbas is demanding that Israel release security prisoners to him, and that Israel stop building in Judea, Samaria and east Jerusalem, according to Israel National News. But perhaps the more telling issue is the fact that Hamas has never been willing to recognize Israel in the past and has no interest in doing so now, so it is anticipated that the peace process matter will be put before the U.N. in the fall in spite of attempts to resolve the matter without U.N. intervention .
Meanwhile, the wary eyes of the G-8 have been watching the instability and uprisings in the Middle East even as they contemplate who will be the new head of the IMF, according to Fox News The E.U. is pushing for French finance minister Christine Lagarde, while China, the U.S. and Canada argue that developing countries need to have the opportunity extended to them. Given the instability of the euro because of euro zone countries Greece, Ireland and Portugal needing a bailout, and the fact that Spain and France have been on the edge of insolvency for a few months now, euro zone countries are teetering perilously close to the edge of becoming the developing nations of the 21st century.
Obama’s foreign policy focus on matters related to Israel has the appearance of being anti-Semitic to many Christian denominations and other groups who support Israel, and there are some in congress who boldly speak out on behalf of Israel. One such person is Congressman Paul Broun of Georgia. He told One News Now that, “The Palestinians teach hate [and] they teach destruction of Israel – and that’s just something that we cannot accept.” In addition, “It’s impossible to accept that from their [Israeli] perspective, and America should respect the feelings of the Israeli people.”
Broun goes on to point out that the Obama administration looks more pro-Palestinian and pro-Arab to him than pro-Israeli.
Michelle Bachmann is another congressperson who has expressed her disagreement with Obama’s position regarding Israel. Last week she told One News Now that for Obama to announce his view that Israel ought to return to its 1967 borders was, “Nothing more than a betrayal of our friend Israel.”
She also acknowledged the pro-Israel view of many American Christians stating that, “It is clear from the Bible – and from many people in the United States who believe that God blesses those who bless Israel and curses those who curse Israel…that President Obama is not standing with many Americans across the United States who embrace a pro-Israel policy.”
