E! News debuts its highly anticipated new reality show, "Botched" Tuesday night. It features two renowned plastic surgeons, Dr. Paul Nassif and Dr. Terry Dubrow. The doctors are skilled plastic surgeons who will use their medical expertise to perform “Revisional plastic surgeries”, which are high-risk procedures that has a significant chance of failure.
If you happen to be squeamish, “Botched” is not for the faint of heart. It will showcase before and after rhinoplasty surgeries, breast implant repairs and botox faux pas just to name a few. These are real-life patients with serious deformities who have risked their lives in pursuance of transcendence. Dr. Nassif and Dr. Dubrow is their last chance to repair the damage, but there is a slim chance these surgeries will be successful. “This show isn’t about taking someone with minor imperfections and making them perfect,” explained Dr. Dubrow in an exclusive interview with Celebuzz.
Dr. Dubrow promises the show will be dramatic and very entertaining, but it will have some tender, heartwarming moments as well. For example, a woman whose nose collapsed after six failed procedures. The doctors were able to correct the damages and restored her confidence and self-esteem. Dubrow also told Celebuzz they have to turn down patients who are not fixable because the damage is too severe; some have had one too many surgeries, or have unrealistic expectations, and others are just plain "whacky". He clarifies that many of the botched surgeries are not necessarily the surgeon’s fault. “Most of these cases it wasn’t the surgeons fault because plastic surgery is like any other surgery…”.
The show features some high profile candidates like Janice Dickinson. Janice is known for her obsession with the knife, but she is most noted for her unstable behavior and flippant outbursts. The world’s first supermodel who once graced the covers of Cosmopolitan and Harper’s Bazaar, is now a shell of her former self. Janice has reportedly had over $1 million worth of surgeries and recently declared bankruptcy according to the Huffington Post. Dr. Dubrow says the episode with Janice is by far the most entertaining and dramatic. He says Janice completely flips out and hints that her outbursts are strictly for the cameras.
Both doctors are no strangers to reality television. Dr. Paul Nassif is the ex-husband of Adrienne Maloof from the "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" and Dr. Terry Dubrow is married to Heather Dubrow from "Real Housewives of Orange County". Both doctors have been fixtures on each show respectively. Dr. Dubrow had mixed emotions about doing another reality show, but says the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
