E.K. Slaughter has resigned as Red Bank head coach and has been named as the new coach at Heritage (GA) high school.
Slaughter replaces Tim James who resigned last month after six years on the job and a 14-49 record as the only football coach in Heritage history.
"Heritage is a new school and I think my personality, my coaching style fit in well there," Slaughter said. "We are going to have to roll our sleeves up and get to work but I'm really excited about the opportunity."
Slaughter spent the last two seasons at Red Bank where the Lions went 7-13 including a 3-7 season this year.
His overall coaching record at Red Bank, Cleveland and Soddy Daisy is 29-35.
Before coming to Red Bank, Slaughter was 14-18 in three seasons as head coach at Cleveland with two playoff appearances in 2009 and 2010.
Slaughter gained his first head coaching job at Soddy Daisy in 2008 and the Trojans went 8-4 in his only season there.
He was at Red Bank as offensive coordinator from 2005-07 and the Lions went 12-1 in both 2006 and 2007.
There are 22 jobs open now in Red Bank, Briarcrest, Bearden, Carter, Perry County, Powell, Monterey, Warren County, Clarksville, Halls, Raleigh Egypt, Unicoi County, Nashville Overton, Marion County, Davidson Academy, Waverly, Kirby, Chattanooga Central, Jackson Christian, Knoxville Central, Summit and Richland as schools currently looking for a head coach.
