Only hours after a stellar performance, the Buffalo Bills announced that E.J. Manuel had a surgical procedure on his knee Saturday. Earlier on August 17, Top 10+1 all but announced E.J. Manuel as the starting quarterback come week one. The Bills announced on Saturday afternoon that E.J. had an MRI on his knee, and it requires minor surgery.
According to the Buffalo Bills, “EJ Manuel had some swelling in his left knee” and was “examined by the medical staff.” The setback only plans to keep Manuel out for the preseason, but the recovery time might have him become the backup quarterback to Kevin Kolb.
Remember, Kolb recently came back from a Knee injury after missing eight days of practice. Still, it seemed as if E.J. Manuel was the man for the job regardless. CBSSports even stated, “Manuel appeared to be working quite well, even for a rookie.” Actually, E.J. Manuel was doing more than working well, he was flourishing under Doug Marrone’s system in Buffalo.
Here’s a statement from Examiner.com earlier in the day. “Buffalo could be a sleeper for a playoff berth.” If you don’t believe me, ask Washington, Seattle, and Indianapolis.” Hopefully for Buffalo fans, the Bills are just taking proper precautions to guard against further injury.
As for now, it looks like Kevin Kolb is your new starter.
