Two people have died from an E. coli. outbreak and twenty-eight others are sick. One person is from New Hampshire and the other from New York. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) states that it may be from ground beef and a recall has been issued.

The sickness from E. coli varies from person to person; some people feel like they have a slight flu while others have severe stomach cramps and vomiting.  The twenty-eight people who became sick between the middle of September and the middle of October, 68% were male, and all were between 1 and 84 years of age. The CDC began to investigate the outbreak in mid-October. The beef recall was issued on October 31, 2009.

The hamburger was sold by ACME, BJ's, Ford Brothers, Price Chopper, Giant Food Stores, Shaw's, Trader Joe's, according to Fairbanks Farms who produced the meat.

E. coli. breakouts are quite common in the US, but few people die from it. The last E. coli. outbreak in Utah was in September 2009, and included Utah, Colorado and New York State. No one died during that outbreak.
