Dynamo end California trip with San Jose draw

Rivals Houston Dynamo and the San Jose Earthquakes met in Oxnard, CA and the two teams put out a hard fought match that ended in a 2-2 draw on Tuesday.

San Antonio's closest MLS team was looking to recover from their first pre-season loss that happened on Saturday and it was Macoumba Kandji, newly acquired from Colorado who scored his first Dynamo goal.

It only took five minutes for the Dynamo to open the scoring as Bobby Boswell sent a good ball for Kofi Sarkodie who then found Adam Moffat in midfield. Moffat sent in  a looking ball for Will Bruin who was able to head the ball to Kandji who took one touch and then fired home.

In the 11th minute Tally Hall was forced to make a save as Rafael Baca sent in a good cross for Chris Wondolowski who volleyed toward goal but was denied by a good save from Hall sending the ball out for a corner.

It was tight in the middle of the half until the Earthquakes equalized in the 30th minute as Wondolowski took advantage of an error in midfield and ran at Hall but hesitated on his shot allowing Geoff Cameron to cover and block the shot, which fell for Ramiro Corrales who sent the ball back in for Wondolowski to head home.

It didn't take long after half time for the Dynamo to retake the lead as Eder Arreola took a touch to get around his defender and made a powerful run before sending the ball for Bruin who volleyed the ball in to the back of the net.

From there though San Jose controlled the half and finally found the equalizer in the 78th minute when Anthony Ampaipitakwong got behind the Dynamo defense after a good ball from Khari Stephenson and controlled well slamming the ball home to secure a 2-2 draw.

Houston Dynamo got some good news over the weekend as it appears Brian Ching will be returning to the club after being drafted to Montreal Impact in the expansion draft.

Houston have had an offer accepted for Ching and the MLS has given Ching and the Dynamo permission to renegotiate, and Ching was sighted in Houston on Monday indicating an announcement is close.
