An almost perfect performance ended with a tremendous result for Houston Dynamo on Wednesday 8th May as they routed DC United by four goals to zero, on the road at RFK Stadium to inflict the heaviest defeat on their hosts this current playing season.
The 'Orange' could have been forgiven for suffering from fatigue as they had travelled across the nation after the weekends match v LA Galaxy but goals from Giles Barnes, Andy Driver and a couple from Will Bruin earned the Dynamo the points that lifts them to 6-2-2 and 20 points in the Eastern Conference.
Houston opened the scoring on 16 minutes through Bruins first of the night. After receiving a pass through the middle of defence, he chipped the out rushing Bill Hamid in DC's goal to make it 1-0.
28 minutes in and Houston added another when a loose outfield pass from Hamid in goal was collected by Bruin who squared it to a free and unmarked Barnes to easily slot home, doubling the Texas side's lead with less than a half hour played.
It was all too easy for the visiting Texans but it took until the second period before they added another.
With 12 minutes remaining on the clock Bruin added his second of the night when he ended a perfect play that started with a Brad Davis free kick that was headed onward by Brian Ching and perfectly into the path of Bruin who fired it home after breaking free from his defensive marker.
Just when DC United looked like escaping with a 3-0 loss Andy Driver played a neat one-two with Bruin before rifling home his sides fourth goal of the evening on 88 minutes.
Sunday sees Houston return home as they host Kansas City at BBVA Compass stadium looking to extend their unbeaten run to six.
Final score from RFK Stadium
