It seems like these days there have been so much buzz around coconut oil, a product that has been around forever! There are so many health and beauty benefits to using coconut oil that it is no surprise to why it got it's fame. Coconut oil is used in homemade tooth pastes, natural deodorants, and even to remove stubborn stickers and glue from surfaces. But the most popular use for coconut oil is in face products since it is proven to be great for softening skin and curing acne.
You can buy products that have coconut oil in it's ingredients from drugstores, but here is an easy recipe to create your own facial scrub at home. It only takes 2 ingredients- coconut oil and baking soda! Mix equal parts of both ingredients into an empty container (a mason jar is great for this) and voila- you got yourself a scrub!
This scrub can be used everyday as a face cleanser. Just exfoliate your skin with a dime sized scoop and massage it in for about 2-3 minutes. When you rinse it off you'll notice that your skin will feel oily, but don't worry about removing all the coconut oil. Just pat your face dry with a towel and let the oil air dry on your face. The oiliness will eventually go away and leave you with super baby-soft skin!! Coconut oil is fantastic for preventing acne, smoothing out wrinkles, and moisturizing skin.
Tip: When making the scrub, try melting/softening the coconut oil so that it is easier to fold in the baking soda. A quick pop into the microwave oven for 10-15 seconds should do the trick!
