"Dancing With the Stars" welcomed its youngest celebrity contestant ever on Monday night and she ended up with the highest score. Disney Channel star 16 year old Zendaya Coleman performed a contemporary dance with her partner Val Chmerkovskiy. The pair earned an "8" from all three judges giving the 24 out of a possible 30 points. The judges raved about the "Shake It Up" star calling her performance "amazing." Following her impressive performance, Zendaya took to Twitter saying, "What an amazing night, I'm so humbled and grateful for this experience."
Zendaya has some experience with dance, although not in ballroom dancing. The Disney star is known for her hip hop style which she admits has her hunched over to show "swag." She was able to put that away for the season premiere of "Dancing With the Stars Season 16" where her posture and performance were near-perfect.
Zendaya topped the leader-board out of the gate. She beat out country star Kellie Pickler, Aly Raisman, and Dorothy Hamill who all earned 21 points. Soap stud Ingo Rademacher and Ravens star Jacoby Jones were tied for third with 20 points each.
Comedian D.L. Hughley and his partner Cheryl Burke had the low score earning just 12 out of 30 points.
Each pair will perform one more dance next Monday before the first person is sent home on the March 26 "Dancing With the Stars Results Show."
