DWTS' William Levy to star in new novela with fiancé Elizabeth Gutierrez

William Levy, the hot latin star that American audiences got to know last season with his debut on ABC's Dancing With The Stars, is getting ready to star in a new telenovela, produced by the Mexican television network, Televisa .

For weeks there were rumors of the various actresses casting for the starring role in "La Tempestad", alongside the already confirmed Levy. Everyone from Angelique Boyer, Zuria Vega and the former Miss Universe, Ximena Navarrete were mentioned.

A few weeks ago, there was an article implying that Angelique Boyer would get the starring role. Yet, there was harsh criticism online. The criticism ranged from "we're bored of her", "Angelique again?" and other unkind words about her acting abilities. The fact is, Boyer was never invited to cast for the role.

Two weeks ago, it was revealed that leading actress, Sandra Echeverria, rejected the role due to various work proposals already in progress. And that led to the obvious question: Who could be left?

Apparently, many of William's fans want him side-by-side with the mother of his children, Mexican-American actress and L.A. native, Elizabeth Gutierrez. Many Spanish-language publications falsely reported that Levy was "asking" for Elizabeth's starring role in the production. However, many of William Levy's fans were the first to petition for her inclusion in the novela as the leading actress when it was confirmed that he would be the leading man.

Elizabeth Gutierrez is no stranger to television. She has had starring roles for Venevision and the U.S. based Telemundo network. She was also a contestant for Univision's Spanish version of DWTS in Mira Quien Baila in 2011. Week after week Gutierrez was sentenced by the judges. And week after week, the loyal fans of William Levy and Elizabeth Gutierrez, saved her.

If there is anyone pressuring the network and the producer for Elizabeth Gutierrez to be considered for the starring role of "La Tempestad", it's the fans. The Mexican television network is aware that it's precisely them, that can make or break the success of the telenovela.

Elizabeth Gutierrez's last starring role was in "El Rostro de la Venganza" which ended last week on the Telemundo network.

Production for "La Tempestad" is scheduled to begin February 25th and is tentatively scheduled to air in Mexico, May 13th on Televisa's main network, El Canal de las Estrellas.

No doubt, Angelenos will get to see this telenovela on the Univision network later this year. According to HuffPost Voces, expect the official announcement of Gutierrez's inclusion into the cast from Televisa in the coming weeks -- if not days.
