The "Dancing with the Stars" season 17 cast rumors continue swirling ahead of the show's official cast announcement. According to an Aug. 28 TMZ report, Valerie Harper will compete in the show despite being diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
Valerie Harper, 74, was given just three months to live back in March, but she beat the odds. She was diagnosed with leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, which is a cancer that spreads to the lining of the brain. She has decided to use the life she still has to learn to dance on season 17 of "Dancing with the Stars."
Apparently Valerie Harper will pair with Tristan on "Dancing with the Stars" season 17, and so far the pair has been doing well in early practices. It is completely amazing that this woman, who is best known for her role of Rhoda on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," is competing in this incredibly inspiring.
As long as her health holds up, it seems like Valerie Harper and Tristan may be frontrunners to win the 2013 mirrorball trophy on "DWTS." Of course, the cast rumors have several other interesting celebrities competing in this season, so obviously the winner is not a given. The rumored celebs for 2013 include Farrah Abraham, Jason Varitek, John Stamos, and Seth MacFarlane in addition to Valerie Harper.
The official "Dancing with the Stars" season 17 cast announcement will air live on ABC's Good Morning America on Sept. 4. In Oklahoma City, ABC is channel 5.
