DWTS season 11, week 1 sees Hasselhoff now 'off' -- his 'sexy' more 'sleezy'

Dancing With the Stars, according to Dallas News, should really be some dancing being done by some stars. How true, how true. But with Hasselhoff axed on Tuesday night, the show can only boast a couple of real celebrities of television or movie fame now: Florence Henderson of the Brady Bunch, Mike "The Situation" a'la Jersey Shore (does he or that show really count?), and Jennifer Grey (for long ago Dirty Dancing role).

Bristol Palin not a "star" - Hasselhoff not "sexy"

Bristol Palin is a celebrity, of sorts, but she isn't a "star" like David Hasselhoff or Florence Henderson. But neither are a lot of the dancers during DWTS Season 11, when you come to think of it.

But personally, after watching Hasselhoff shimmy in the Dancing With the Stars clip I saw, I'm glad he is gone. It is hard to think of the former Baywatch and Knight Rider hunk looking so...so much like a dirty ole geezer trying to still look young and "sexy" after all these years. Hasselhoff doesn't have "it" anymore, in my opinion. Did it bother anyone else to watch him move, or was it just me?

Jennifer Grey takes the day

DWTS might not have had Patrick Swayze to make Jennifer look even better, but the girl has still got it. Grey didn't even have to do a Dirty Dancing move to steal the audience's heart. Her smooth and flawless dancing has assured her of remaining in the top of the heap as the popular dancing show moves on throughout Season 11.

Week one of Dancing might have seen Hasselhoff given the "Don't call us, we'll call you" line, but Week two is sure to send another unexpected dancer packing. Will it be "The Situation" or someone else? If Tina Turner is wrong and age really does have something to do with it, then Florence will be the next to exit. That would sting big time, as she is doing a fantastic dancing job for her age.

In fact, she makes some of the younger girls look less pulled together, in my opinion. And, thankfully, Florence isn't trying to be "sexy" like Hasselhoff's Tom Jones impersonation. Ugh. Whoever thought up that number needs their head examined. Truly, where Tom is concerned: nobody does it better (isn't that a Carly Simon song?)

Maybe Dancing With the Stars will actually try to make the show about dancing. That is really what people want to see. They want to see stars dancing. Spare us the "sexy," the "situation" jocks, and the "sleeze." Bring on real dancing and the stars who can do it!
