'DWTS' scandal: James Maslow fans claim their votes weren't counted

James Maslow fans aren't too happy heading into this week's episode of "Dancing with the Stars" because they claim that there was a problem with the voting app on Facebook. On May 12, RumorFix reported that some fans were told they voted for Maks and Meryl despite casting their votes for James and Peta Murgatroyd. This could mean trouble for the couple as they face elimination just before the finals.

Tonight's episode of the show will send four couples to the finals. Without votes, it is going to be hard to advance and if James and Peta are sent home tonight? Fans are going to be outraged. Many of them have already expressed their concerns to ABC via social media sites but ABC has only said that they are "looking into" the claims.

"Dancing with the Stars" basis its results on a combination of judge's scores and fan votes. If, for whatever reason, votes that were meant for James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd go to Maks and Meryl, it's going to be tough for James and Peta to advance. It's a very tight race but the couples really depend on the votes of their fans -- which is why so many were upset after seeing their votes got messed up.

Some fans even said that they got strange messages on Facebook that said that they didn't cast any votes! It was like their voting history was deleted. Some Facebook voters checked their history after hearing stories about votes not going through and -- low and behold -- many also claimed that their votes didn't go through either.

Naturally someone has to go home each week and with only five couples left, it's really hard. Everyone who is left has put forth a great effort and really deserves to dance next week. Just before the show aired, Peta Murgatroyd took to Twitter to let everyone know just how proud she is of James Maslow.

"It has been a crazy day on set with lots of changes...We have 2 great dances and I'm so proud of @jamesmaslow he's killed it all week!" Peta tweeted. Do you think that Peta and James will be dancing next week? Did you have any trouble voting for your Dancing with the Stars favorites?

Update: James & Peta are safe!
