The cast reveal for Season 17 of “Dancing With the Stars” is less than a week away on Sept. 4, but that doesn't stop the rumor mill from churning at lightning speed. All the gossip papers, celeb hotlines and anyone with an opinion has been waxing poetic on the upcoming season’s cast.
Here are some of the latest rumors. Please bear in mind they are just that, rumors. ABC guards this cast closer than the Pentagon guards military secrets, so no guarantees until the cast reveal on “Good Morning America,” Sept. 4.
Valerie Harper is 74 and has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. They say she has only months to live. IF Valerie goes “Dancing With the Stars,” I will be heartily cheering for this brave woman. Looks like the spirit of Rhoda Morganstern lives!
Amber Riley is on the very popular TV show “Glee.” A stint on “Dancing With the Stars” would greatly increase her visibility.
Leah Remini has been in the news lately, but not for “King of Queens." Leah made a very public break with Scientology. Maybe a little dancing would do her good.
Christina Milian is a TV and movie actress known for the film “American Pie.” She looks like a good choice.
Jack Osbourne, son of Ozzie, is well-loved on TV. Sadly, Jack has multiple sclerosis. Can he cut the long rehearsals and vigorous dancing? If he gives it a go, I’ll be cheering Jack on, too.
Farrah Abraham is known for being a “Teen Mom” and for her sex tape. Don’t know what the producers are thinking with this one. If they want notoriety, she’s a great choice.
Corbin Bleu is best known for “High School Musical.” He’s young and popular, the image DWTS is attempting to portray.
Elizabeth Berkley is known for “Show Girls” and many TV shows. Berkeley began dancing at the age of five. Would she be unfair competition? No more so than some of the gymnasts on the show in the past few seasons.
Gabrielle Douglas is another member of the “Fierce Five” interested in morphing her gymnastic skills into a mirror ball trophy. She would follow in the footsteps of fellow team members Shawn Johnson and Aly Raisman.
Keyshawn Johnson is a retired NFL football player. Traditionally, football players have done very well on the show.
J.C. Chasez is from ‘N Sync, the boy band that has been making news again, most recently with rumors of a comeback and a performance on the recent MTV VMA award show.
That’s everyone I could find in the past few days. Have you heard of others? If so, please leave a comment and tell me who. It’s going to be a lot of fun watching who walks out on “Good Morning America” next week!
Season 17 of “Dancing With the Stars” takes the ballroom floor at 8 p.m. eastern on Monday, Sept. 16 on ABC. Don’t miss a step!
