Tonight’s theme was delving into the most memorable years of the contestants’ lives. Robin Roberts made her appearance as the season’s first guest judge.

Warning: If you are planning to watch this show online or DVR, have a tissue box nearby!

Billy Dee, unfortunately, has left the show not due to lack of viewer support but due to a chronic back injury and so he and Emma were the only ones to go this week.

The Scores:

  1. Meryl and Maks – 39
  2. Charlie and Sharna – 36
  3. James and Peta – 36
  4. Danica and Val – 36
  5. Amy and Derek – 36
  6. Cody and Witney – 35
  7. Candace and Mark – 32
  8. Nene and Tony – 31
  9. Drew and Cheryl – 30

The Highlights:

Danica and Val’s Contemporary piece was absolutely gorgeous. Danica dedicated the dance to her son and her late grandmother and she danced with incredible grace and fluidity. It almost seemed too short.

Amy and Derek appeared in another Contemporary piece commemorating Amy’s journey following the loss of her legs to meningitis. Derek is quite the genius with choreography and Amy incredibly brave and trusting him with falls and flips. Not to mention, of course, her natural grace which easily helps us forget that she is a snowboarder!

Charlie and Sharna’s Jive was a wonderful break from the teary-eyed emotional pieces that seemed to dominate the evening. Instead of a tear-jerker, this was a smile-jerker and so much fun. Charlie’s athleticism served him incredibly well as he match Sharna’s quality of movement.

Lastly, Meryl and Maks were also brilliant in the Foxtrot. The sweeping, flowing movement was quite lovely and definitely worth a watch. Meryl has the stylized posture of a ballet dancer and appears to have been a great new muse for Maks in his return season.

Next week tune in to check out the change of partners as voted by the viewers.

Albuquerque viewers can catch DWTS Monday nights at 7pm (MST) on ABC channel 7.
