'DWTS' James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd set the record straight

Unfortunately for those who were hoping to see James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd together more, the two, who reached the semi-finals of that latest season of "Dancing with the Stars," have finally stated that they're nothing more than good friends. In an OK! Magazine video interview, posted on Friday, May 23, James and Peta addressed the dating rumors that have surrounded them since the show began.

When asked if they think they had chemistry from the get-go or if it was something that was built, Peta said that she thinks they had chemistry this season but that chemistry is something that can definitely be built as the show progresses. She said that with her last five other partners, she has had great chemistry with two. James added that they started off in a great place as acquaintances and then inevitably got closer as the show went along.

Speaking of which, James and Peta also addressed the "date" that they went on before the show. Both James and Peta were quick to make clear that the show made a bigger deal out of their "date" than it really was, with Peta saying that there's the "Dancing with the Stars" story and their story. James explained that he and Peta went to dinner with friends one night, months before he was signed up for the dancing competition or even had any thought about doing it.

He further explained that the whole "he didn't call her after the date" thing was blown way out of proportion. He said that there was no expectation for him to do anything after their "date." He said that they did keep in touch a bit after the dinner but hadn't seen each other until the show began.

Peta pointed out that for every single season, she's rumored to be dating her celeb partner. Both said that the rumors of them dating are just that, rumors, and that they're nothing more than good friends.

James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd aren't the only "Dancing with the Stars" couple who has set the record straight about their possible romance. Winners Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Meryl Davis recently confirmed to talk show host Wendy Williams that they're not dating when she brazenly asked whether they were having sex together.
