The celebrity contestants on "Dancing with the Stars" know they're supposed to stay mum on their participation until the day of the big lineup announcement, but apparently no one shared the rules with Constance Marie. On Sept. 3, just a day before the planned "Good Morning America" reveal, the "George Lopez" actress formally outed Lea Thompson as a member of the season 19 cast.
Marie's super sweet tweet, which featured a photo of herself with the "Back to the Future" star, offered up congratulations on making the cast and also included a bold pre-season prediction. She wrote "She is gonna win #DWTS!!! Seriously!! Have you seen those legs #Strong & #Sassy."
In addition to her well-known role as Lorraine McFly in the "Back to the Future" trilogy, the 53-year old Thompson has appeared in numerous other movies and television shows, including the 1990s sitcom "Caroline in the City" and the film "Some Kind of Wonderful." She currently appears as Kathryn Kennish on "Switched at Birth."
Thompson's extensive dance experience may well earn her ringer status on "DWTS." According to biographical information, she had appeared in more than 45 ballets by the time she turned 14 years old, and considered becoming a professional dancer. Additionally, a spring season episode of "Switched at Birth" saw her perform a Broadway themed routine. According to posted partner spoilers, Thompson will work with "DWTS" pro Artem Chigvintsev in his debut season as a coach. Chigvintsev previously served as a member of the show's performance troupe.
To be fair, Marie isn't the only celeb who's spoiled a friend's season 19 show status. "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson spilled the beans about 17-year old Sadie Robertson's planned participation on Aug. 27, while "Pretty Little Liars" star Lucy Hale did the same for co-star Janel Parrish before realizing her error and deleting the tweet. Per spoilers, Robertson is matched up with Mark Ballas while Parrish will hoof it alongside Val Chmerkovskiy.
"Dancing with the Stars" season 19 premieres Sept. 15 on ABC. Look for the cast announcement Sept. 4 during "GMA."
