The "Dancing with the Stars" fall 2013 season resumed Sept. 30 on ABC with a night of Hollywood-themed performances by the remaining 11 mirror ball trophy hopefuls. Although a hearty helping of high-scoring numbers were turned in, one of the most memorable belonged to Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, who set the ballroom ablaze with her theatrical quickstep.
During her rehearsal segment with pro partner Sasha Farber, Polizzi lamented the disappointing scores the duo netted for their week two rumba, and vowed to never again receive sixes from "DWTS" judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman. She confirmed Farber's notion that the "tough girl persona" was an act, expressing a desire to "do good" and impress with panelists with her dedication.
When Polizzi and Farber hit the ballroom, their "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" was fast, fun and full of personality. Dressed in a glamorous red gown, Polizzi slipped easily into the role of Marilyn Monroe, and turned in what was easily her best performance of the competition.
The judges were impressed with her stepped-up effort. Goodman said Polizzi "surprised" him with a great first ballroom dance, while Tonioli said she was "on fire." Inaba called her a "super star" and said she deserved a star on the Walk of Fame. They rewarded the couple with a solid 25 points, which placed them just two points behind week three leader board toppers Brant Daugherty and Peta Murgatroyd.
Polizzi also earned accolades from a handful of famous friends, including actress Jenny McCarthy and reality star turned former "DWTS" contestant Kendra Wilkinson, who both tweeted to encourage fans to vote to keep her in the competition.
The "Dancing with the Stars" fall 2013 season continues Oct. 7 on ABC with week four of its latest incarnation.
