Derek Hough has been injured before and had to sit out a week of “Dancing with the Stars” and it looks like it may happen again. According to an Oct. 24 report on Wetpaint, the professional dancer and four-time champ recently tweeted that he was sleeping in the studio, fearful he was coming down with something.
His partner, “Glee’s” Amber Riley wrote in her blog on Parade that things are a little more serious than that. She’s been rehearsing all week with an alternate, Henry Byalikov while Derek choreographs from the sidelines. Here’s what Amber had to say on the subject:
“This week, we’re doing a Paso Doble. Derek’s back is really bothering him, so I am learning with one of the other dancers, Henry, and Derek is still there choreographing. I may have to actually do the dance with someone else if his back doesn’t feel better because he’s severely injured. It’s a little touch and go right now, but we’ll see what happens during rehearsal and whether or not Derek will feel well enough to perform on Monday, or if he has to take it easy for a minute.”
Not only are Amber and Derek supposed to do the Paso Doble this week but a team dance as well. Hopefully Derek’s injury will heal quickly enough for him to be able to perform with Amber but having to practice all week with a different partner could throw her off just the same. Either way, the outcome is iffy.
Tune in Monday Oct. 28 for week 7 of “Dancing with the Stars” and check back frequently for updates and news.
