DWTS contestant Roshon Fegan and his "Shake It Up" co-star Adam Irigoyen are scheduled to be at D23 on Friday between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Disney Channel Pavilion. Fegan competed during season 14 and was paired with Chelsie Hightower. The couple finished in the top six. That season NFL wide receiver Donald Driver and his partner Peta Murgatroyd won with classical music singer Katherine Jenkins and her partner Mark Ballas finishing second. Telenovela star William Levy finished third with is partner Cheryl Burke.
On Saturday, 'NCYNC and DWTS celeb Joey Fatone is scheduled to be at the Talent Round-Up at 1:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Fatone was on season 4 of DWTS. He paired with Kym Johnson and they performed the famous Star Wars tango. Apolo Anton Ohno and Julianne Hough won that season with Fatone and Johnson in second place. Fatone and Ohno both came back for the season 15 All-Stars. Fatone and Johnson were the second team eliminated. Ohno was teamed with Karina Smirnoff and eliminated just before the semi-finals (making the top five). Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani took the mirroball that season. TV personality and former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader had competed with Dovolani during season 8 to finish third.
TV personality Tom Bergeron, the co-host of "Dancing with the Stars" will be hosting the 2013 Disney Legends Awards with Disney CEO Bob Iger. This year, "Monsters, Inc." and "Monsters University" stars Billy Crystal and John Goodman, technology visionary Steve Jobs, television icon Dick Clark, former senior vice president of Creative Development in Walt Disney Imagineering Tony Baxter, artist Collin Campbell, Disney animator Glen Keane ("The Little Mermaid," "Beauty and the Beast," "Aladdin," "Tarzan" and "Tangled") and the late comedian Ed Wynn. Wynn (1886-1966) provided the voice for the Mad Hatter in "Alice in Wonderland" and appeared in the 1961 "Babes in Toyland" where he played the Toymaker. Wynn was also the actor who played Uncle Albert in the 1964 "Mary Poppins." He also appeared in the 1965 "That Darn Cat!" with Dean Jones and Hayley Mills and had a brief appearance in "The Absent Minded Professor" and "Son of Flubber." The late Keenan Wynn (1916-1986) was his son.
Campbell worked on the background for Disney classic "Lady and the Tramp." He was the concept artist for the Disneyland attractions Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise and the Haunted Mansion.
Richard M. Sherman and Alan Menken will be at the D23 Arena on Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sherman partnered with his older brother Robert to score movies such as the 1964 "Mary Poppins," the 1967 "The Jungle Book," the 1970 "The Aristocats," the 1971 "Bednobs and Broomsticks," and the 2000 "The Tigger Movie." They won an Academy Award in 1965 for Best Original Song for "Chim Chim Cher-ee" from "Mary Poppins" and Best Substantially Original Score for "Mary Poppins." They also won a Grammy for Best Original Score for a Motion Picture for "Mary Poppins." Disneyland itself is full of music from the Sherman Brothers such as the Enchanted Tiki Room "The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room" and It's a Small World theme song.
Menken scored for 1989 "The Little Mermaid" (Best Original Score and Best Original Song Oscars with Howard Ashman), 1991 "Beauty and the Beast" (Best Original Score and Best Original Song Oscars with Howard Ashman), the 1992 "Aladdin" (Best Original Score and Best Original Song Oscars with Tim Rice), and the 1995 "Pocahontas"(Best Original Score with Stephen Schwartz and Best Original Song Oscars with Stephen Schwartz). "Mermaid," "Beauty and the Beast," "Aladdin" and "Pocahontas" won Golden Globe awards. Menken also did the score and songs for the 1992 Newsies," the 1996 "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," the 1997 "Hercules," the 2004 "Home on the Range," the 2007 "Enchanted," and the 2010 "Tangled."
