The new cast of “Dancing with the Stars” won’t be officially announced until Sept. 4 on “GMA,” but the casting rumors are already alive and well. On Aug. 20, “Reality TV Magazine” threw two new names into the ever changing equation: Abby Lee Miller from “Dance Moms” and hunky John Stamos from “General Hospital” and “Full House” fame. These two very different personalities would certainly shake things up and be a great addition to “DWTS.” Abby Lee has dancing in her blood and John would look great in sequins and sparkly costumes.
Abby Lee Miller is the outrageously outspoken star of Lifetime’s runaway hit show called “Dance Moms.” She got her love of dance from her mother, who is a longtime member of Dance Masters of America. Miller took classes at her mother’s studio for many years, so you could say dance is in her blood. Surprisingly, the taskmaster hates to be on stage and never enjoyed performing. She says on the Lifetime website, “That’s one reason why I am a great teacher. I don’t envy or compete with my students.”
According to Reality TV, Brooke Burke Charvet hinted that Abby Lee Miller might compete during an interview with KTLA. So, should Abby Lee compete for the coveted mirror ball trophy? She’s already had a brush with “DWTS.” Pro dancers Mark Ballas and Derek Hough criticized “Dance Moms” through Twitter posts. Mark called the show “abusive” and even said, “I don’t want young children being afraid to take up dance because of this lady.” Derek echoed his sentiments and tweeted that he was “livid” over the “child abuse” on “Dance Moms.”
Love her or hate her, there’s no denying that Abby Lee Miller has a big mouth and a larger-than-life personality. She would definitely shake-up the ballroom and spark a ton of drama. Plus, imagine Abby spray tanned, in sequins, sporting sky-high heels, and dancing a saucy Samba. Now, that would be an image to behold, right?
Sexy John Stamos is another rumored cast member on the new season of “DWTS.” According to a Twitter post from a Huffington Post employee, a yogurt spokesperson is slated to compete on this season of “Dancing with the Stars.” John Stamos is currently the spokesperson for Dannon Oikos yogurt, while Jamie Lee Curtis represents Activia.
If Stamos does join the cast and is partnered with Karina Smirnoff, it would make her day. “People Magazine” reported that he is her dream partner. Stamos was asked to be on “DWTS” in 2010, but he turned the show down and tweeted, “I’m not a dancer. I’d put my foot in my mouth faster than John Mayer.” However, that was three years ago. Perhaps, John is finally set to take a spin this time around.
John played Blackie Parrish on “General Hospital” from 1982-1984. Then, he played Jesse Katsopolis on “Full House” from 1987-1995. He loves The Beach Boys and even played drums with them on several occasions. The talented actor has also starred on Broadway.
Because Stamos is one of those Hollywood actors who just gets better and better over time, he would be a great addition to the ballroom. However, Jamie Lee Curtis would also shine. Either choice is a winning one.
At one point, it was rumored that Paula Dean was joining “Dancing with the Stars,” but she recently put that one to rest. Other rumored names include former “Survivor” star Eddie Fox and former Red Sox star Jason Varitek.
As far as the pros go, Maks may or may not return and Derek is back in. Kym Johnson is not coming back in order to take another “amazing work opportunity” back home in Australia. According to The Stir at Café Mom, Cheryl Burke, Louis Van Amstel, Peta Murgatroyd, Sharna Burgess, and Karina Smirnoff are returning. It also looks like Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli an Len Goodman will once again bicker at the judges’ table.
The new cast of “Dancing with the Stars” will be officially announced on “Good Morning America” on Wednesday, Sept. 4. “DWTS” season 17 premieres on Monday, Sept. 16 on ABC. In the meantime, fans still have to wait and wonder about the new cast.
