When "Dancing with the Stars" 2014 premieres March 17 on ABC, season seven mirror ball trophy winner and long-time co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet won't be on hand to chat up the new celebrity cast, according to a Feb. 21 E! Online report.

Per the article, "DWTS" executive producer Conrad Green confirmed that the 42-year old model and actress would not be returning as Tom Bergeron's sidekick during season 18, though he thanked her for her "years of great service" and said she'd be "unquestionably... missed."

The news came as a complete surprise to Burke-Charvet. She hit Twitter while still clearly reeling from the bad news, writing "weird day….Shocking pre-season elimination #DWTS…ME. @Tom_Bergeron didn't even read my name. I won't be returning to the show this season."

Brooke-Charvet first appeared on "DWTS" as a celebrity contestant, eventually winning season seven on the arm of popular pro Derek Hough. She returned to the hit reality dance competition when she was chosen to replace Samantha Harris as the show's co-host beginning in season 10.

Brooke-Charvet's dismissal is the second big shake-up of season 18. The first came when the Harold Wheeler Orchestra was unexpectedly axed on Feb. 3.

The celebrity cast of "Dancing with the Stars" 2014 is set to be revealed March 4 on "Good Morning America," with the season premiere coming less than two weeks later on March 17.
