"Dancing with the Stars" 2014 premieres Sept. 15 on ABC with a 19th season of action from the esteemed ballroom. Although celebrity casting rumors are scarce to date, a July 16 Hollywood Life report named a few possible candidates, including a legendary country music singer.

According to the article, an unnamed source claimed that Shania Twain is "very, very, very close" to signing a deal to appear on "DWTS" season 19. The "Any Man of Mine" singer's name first appeared on the list of potential contenders during a July 14 Facebook question and answer session. When asked if she'd ever think of taking a turn around the ballroom, she responded "I'd consider it!" The show of interest may have been enough to attract the attention of the reality show's producers, who told Glamour on July 15 that they're "open to any [casting] suggestions."

Twain, 48, first appeared on the music scene in 1993 with the release of her self-titled first album. She's since earned an impressive five Grammy Awards, and is one of the best-selling artists of all time. Although Twain hasn't produced an album of new music since 2002's "Up!" she's still active in the music world. She currently headlines her own popular stage show, entitled "Still the One," at The Colosseum at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.

Other celebs named as potential "DWTS" contestants include soccer stars Landon Donovan and Tim Howard, and Ashley Gold, presumably of the reality show "Hardcore Pawn." Stars who definitely will not appear include "The Talk" co-host Sharon Osbourne, who told Examiner that she'd "never" take part in the competition, and "Boy Meets World" alum Rider Strong, who responded to his potential candidacy with a pointed "Never in a million years."

Although hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews will both return and the long-time judging panel featuring Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Len Goodman will likely stay intact, other definitive casting information is unavailable. The most potentially interesting tidbit of information currently floating through cyberspace is the rumor that reigning pro champion Maksim Chmerkovskiy has expressed interest in serving as a judge.

"Dancing with the Stars" 2014 begins Sept. 15 on ABC. Be on the lookout for news and updates as they emerge.
