'DWTS' 2014 rumor: Erin Andrews to replace Brooke Burke-Charvet?

Just a day after news broke that long-time "Dancing with the Stars" co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet was not asked to return for the show's 18th season, a Feb. 22 report by The Big Lead named sports reporter and former "DWTS" contestant Erin Andrews as Tom Bergeron's new sidekick.

Citing two unnamed sources close to ABC, the article named Andrews as the show's co-host and said the network would confirm the news on Feb. 24. Andrews would supposedly continue her duties as a sideline reporter for Fox Sports while donning sparkles and heels for "DWTS" on Monday nights.

Neither Andrews nor ABC commented on the rumor, but fans shared mixed reactions via Twitter. Entertainment writer Kristyn Burtt wrote that Andrews' inclusion is "Entirely possible…falls in line w/their younger demo" but some viewers weren't thrilled with the prospect. Tweeter @LePrimm wrote "I will watch #TheVoice IF that crying Diva is on @DancingABC BIG BIG mistake if that Crying Diva Erin Andrews is added to #DWTS !!!!!"

Andrews, 35, was paired up with "DWTS" fan favorite Maksim Chmerkovskiy for the show's 10th season. The two finished in third place behind winners Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough.

With or without Andrews on board, "Dancing with the Stars" 2014 premieres March 17 on ABC.
