On Sept. 16, "DWTS" season 17 started with a cha cha from Brant Daugherty and Peta Murgatroyd. This was followed by a foxtrot from Leah Remini and Tony Dovolani. The two daring pairs tripped the night fantastic with the judges giving constructive criticism to these new "Dancing with the Stars" duos who were first to be seen in their new roles on ABC's popular TV talent show.
Daughtery of "Pretty Little Liars" fame and his pro partner performed as best they could given this the initial dance out of the gate on "DWTS."
In response, judge Carrie Ann Inaba told the pair that she sees plenty of "potential" in the pairing while Len Goodman thought their effort was simply "fabulous." The American judge said that see anticipates Brant to become a "double threat."
Meanwhile, Bruno Tonioli, the Italian judge who is nearly always upbeat, said that these two lost their timing for part of their performance. However, he too sees that this guy, who is obviously hot, is capable of becoming a great dancer.
After that, a scantily clad Leah Remini joined her partner, Tony Dovolani. The two offered a sexy foxtrot to the strains of "Tears Dry on Their Own" that made Tonioli mention Leah's Miley Cyrus moment. Further, he mentioned that he wants Remini to continue on this path by twerking next week.
Meanwhile, Goodman was a bit more technical in his assessment of this dance, saying that Remini's turn on the ballroom floor was "clean" and "precise" if a little "too careful" in certain parts of the number. Inaba decided to rhyme her criticism, saying Leah was both "sass" and "class."
And so, as "DWTS" 17 began on Sept. 16, Brant Daugherty illustrated that he can possibly turn into a master of dance over the course of the season if he perfects his footwork while Leah Remini, who took on a Miley Cyrus stance just a smidgen, was also off and running to become the best ballroom hoofer she can possibly become.
That said, the first team earned a total of 22 points out of a possible 30 while the second team earned a total of 21 out of 30. No eliminations are on the "Dancing with the Stars" roster for tonight.
