Before Dwight Howard decided to sign with the Houston Rockets last summer, the superstar center was expected to become the future face of the Los Angeles Lakers. With Kobe Bryant in the twilight of his career and the team needing another star player to receive the torch, Dwight seemed to be the perfect fit. Unfortunately, he wasn't and put more fuel on the fire on Feb. 13 posting a picture on Instagram of him dunking on Kobe:
"Throwback hahahahah. Nothin like how he got me but look at dfish and pau face hhahah."
With Dwight leaving money on the table to sign with the Rockets and rubbing a lot of people the wrong way in Los Angeles as a result, the perennial All-Star posting this picture is surprising to say the least.
As expected, there was a lot of tension between Dwight and Kobe during their short time together in Los Angeles due to different philosophies. Kobe wasn't happy with Dwight's approach to the game and really didn't think he had that kind of championship-caliber attitude needed to bring another title to Los Angeles.
As for Dwight, the Rockets ultimately became his team of choice. Dwight believes his chances of winning a championship in Houston is much better than it would be if he had stayed in Los Angeles.
It remains to be seen if Dwight made the right choice, but posting this picture of him dunking over Kobe will only make his return to the Staples Center on Feb. 19 that much interesting.
