A Huntington Station woman has been arrested on drunken driving charges after authorities said she was drunk behind the wheel when she crashed her car into the wall of an off-ramp along the Long Island Expressway.

Genese Smith, 33, will face a judge Monday at First District Court in Hempstead for arraignment after being charged with two counts of driving while intoxicated and aggravated DWI.

Smith was arrested around 10 p.m. Sunday after Nassau Police highway patrol officers received a call for a single-car accident along the eastbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway near exit 39 in East Hills. When officers arrived to the scene, they learned Smith had lost control of a 2007 Nissan and struck the wall of a ramp as she tried to exit the expressway.

An unidentified 27-year-old male passenger in the car suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to a local hospital. His condition was not immediately known.

Smith was arrested at the crash scene and later agreed to a breath test to determine her blood alcohol content. Police said the results showed she had a .19 percent blood-alcohol content, which is more than twice the legal limit. Her car was also impounded.
