You can’t stop The Rock, although he prefers to go by Dwayne Johnson these days.

Hot on the heels of the trailer release for Paramount Pictures’ highly-anticipated “Hercules” late last month, Warner Bros. Pictures this week wasted no time in making their own announcement surrounding the action star: Johnson is re-teaming with director Brad Peyton( “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island”) for “San Andreas.” Cameras started rolling on the film this past week in Australia.

The film’s title is a reference to the fault in California, which gives out and ends up triggering a massive earthquake. Johnson plays a helicopter pilot who must make his way from Los Angeles to San Francisco to rescue his daughter. Lost and Bates Motel writer Carlton Cuse penned the screenplay with screenwriting duo Chad Hayes and Carey Hayes(“The Conjuring”). Director of photography Steve Yedlin will shoot the film. Yedlin’s most recent effort was last year’s “Carrie” remake, and he has served as DP on all three of Rian Johnson’s(“Looper”) feature films.

“San Andreas” is slated for a June 2015 release, but moviegoers will get to see Dwayne Johnson up close and enlarged when “Hercules” hits the big screen this summer. The trailer for Brett Ratner’s retread of the titular demigod’s legend managed to see 10 million views in a little over a week on the Machinima ETC YouTube channel.

Johnson’s name is also hovering around the recently-announced “Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon”, but nothing is set in stone as of this writing. Brad Peyton will return to direct the third entry in the series.
