Dwayne Johnson confirms on Twitter he'll be DC comic book character Black Adam

According to Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson said on his Twitter post that he'll play Black Adam in the DC Cinematic Universe in the "Shazam" movie. Interestingly enough though in the #TheAntiHero mention, which may suggest there could be, like Loki in "Thor", have some redeeming qualities to his character. Thus this also may suggest he may not necessarily the main antagonist of the film.

The "Fast and the Furious 6" actor will appear as the villain in the film. It will be produced by New Line Cinema which is a subsidiary to Warner Brothers. Some may consider this a comparison of comic book companies to studios where Vertigo Comics would be comparable to DC Comics. This announcement would infer that the project is moving forward in earnest, but the Shazam character is as of yet to have casted someone for the role. If there's a young version of Shazam in the movie, it's not even known who will play the boy Billy Batson.

"Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot." My honor to become.. #BlackAdam #TheAntiHero #DCComics."

This tweet is proceeded by comic book artwork where Black Adam is in a struggle with Shazam. Other versions of the Black Adam origin story correlates with the historical information entail his relation as an immortal son to an ancient Pharaoh. If real fanatics out there reach out on a limb far enough, this situation could be seen as Black Adam being the spiritual version of The Scorpion King.

Also, four domain names registered by Warner Brothers indicates one of the sites is dedicated to the Shazam character, so it seems the wheels are in motion both online and in the casting process.
