Pick of the Week: “Labor Day

Directed by Jason Reitman, this drama follows single mom Adele (Kate Winslet) and her son Henry (Gattlin Griffith), who offer a strange injured man named Frank (Josh Brolin) a ride, and eventually shelter in their home. It turns out Frank is an escaped convict, and things get complicated when Adele learns the truth about his past as the police close in. Runtime: 111 minutes. Rated PG-13 for thematic material, brief violence and sensuality.
