Pick of the Week: “Fruitvale Station

Written and directed by Ryan Coogler, this drama follows Oscar Grant (Michael B. Jordan), a young man who, on New Year’s Eve 2008, decides to get a start on his resolutions early. Throughout the day he crosses paths with friends and family, ultimately encountering police at the Fruitvale BART Station in an event that would capture the attention of the entire country. Runtime: 85 minutes. Rated R for some violence, language throughout and some drug use.
