DVD review 'Fan of the Dead' George Romero fan seeks sites of dead movies

DVD cover for the US/Canada Edition.

Just when I think I've seen every zombie film or zombie related DVD there is.....I find a new one.

This one is called "Fan of the Dead," it is a documentary that follows a young man named Nicolas from France to the holy grail of zombiedom....Pennsylvania. (As any true fan knows, Penn State is where, father of the zombies George Romero is based. Where he filmed his first few zombie films.)

Nicolas has searched the internet, gone to goggle and knows pretty much where everything is. Off he goes to Pennsylvania, USA.

First stop is the comic-con in Pennsylvania where our hero meets several stars of the 'dead' movies.

After Schmoozing with some of the legends of the zombie film world, Nicolas and crew go off to see a few zombie places on their own. The graveyard from 'Night, 1990' and the house from 1990 are both found and totally absorbed. The room that was used as the basement in "Night, 1968." Also, the small airport from "Dawn."

The most exciting thing to me was the tour of the mall from "Dawn." This tour was at night after the mall was closed, just as the cast and crew had filmed back in '78. To make it just that much better, several members of the cast were on-hand to explain where each site used was and little tidbits about the shoot. Absolutely yummy!!!!

This documentary runs for 60 minutes (not enough, I wanted more!!!!) The man behind the fun is Nicolas Garreau. It's well made and a ton of fun for zombie fans.
