On Monday, NLTimes reported that the Dutch police officer who fatally shot 17-year-old, Rishi Chandrikasing, was equated of all charges. Prosecutor Wouter Bos, does believe that it was proven that the officer was guilty of manslaughter and that he wasn't following proper police procedure. Bos also believes that the police officer shouldn't be punished for his crimes and requested that all charges be dropped.

On November 23, 2013, the Hague police department received an alarming phone call from employees at the "Hollands Spoor" train station. The caller believed that a passenger was brandishing a firearm. Three officers responded to the call, one of the officers was in civilian clothing. From the security footage you can see the officers running towards Chandrikasing, with their guns already drawn. Chandriskasing looks over his shoulder and begins to run away from them. While all men are still running, one of the officers shoots Chandriskasing in his neck.

The officers did not place pressure on Chandriskasing' neck, causing him to lose a lot of blood. They also didn't perform reanimation on him. Chandriskasing died a few days later. Officers also found that he was not brandishing a weapon and posed no real threat.

Chandriskasing's mother initiated the trial against the officer who fatally shot her son. She didn't want to leave it to change and have the officer go un-punished. The officer was initially charged with manslaughter, due to pressure from the Chandriskasing family, murder was later added.

Bos said that the officer was fully aware of what he was doing before he pulled the trigger. Dutch officials have also said that the officer was under a immense amount of stress due to work pressure. During the officers testimony he explained what was going through his mind before he fatally shot an innocent suspect: "I thought: it's him or me.".
