While Miami is no stranger to the convergence of jungle, drum ‘n’ bass, and UK garage, Dusky’s debut appearance at Treehouse on Sept. 5 set the stage for the burgeoning evolution of house music. Dusky is yet another electronic dance music (EDM) duo from across the pond to honor the traditions of UK underground. But merely classifying Dusky as deep house only scratches the surface of their profound style.
Knowing that they’re a contributing player in this resurgence, Dusky gave their fans what they came for: ethereal jungle and drum ‘n’ bass syncopated with deep, minimal house and techno.
Although infamous South Beach promoters, Link & Miami Rebels, always find a way to counteract the mainstream EDM that overpowers Miami almost every weekend, it’s easy to see why they saved Dusky for their “most intimate night of the week.” With a new EP coming out in late September, it’s without doubt that Dusky will peek their heads into Treehouse again in the near future.
