Durango Songwriters Expo returns for its annual trip to the wine country

The Durango Songwriters Expo has returned to California for its annual trip, starting with tonight's songwriters showcase at SoHo in Santa Barbara. The Expo officially opens tomorrow at its annual home, the Marriott Santa Ynez Valley in Buellton, just north of Santa Barbara at the gateway to the Santa Ynez wine country.

You can pre-register online and the cost of the entire weekend program is just $299. The program includes showcases and listening sessions, multiple panel discussions and a special concert on Saturday night.

Registration opens at 3 p.m., followed by an Orientation at 6:45 p.m. the the first of two Songwriter Showcases at 7:30 p.m. An open mic follows the Songwriter Showcase at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Friday kicks off with the first of several listening sessions, followed by a pair of panel discussions (Syncronization and Licensing and Revenue Streams). After lunch, there is a Songwriting Workshop, followed by more listening sessions leading up to the second Songwriters Showcase at 7:15 p.m. Just like on Thursday night, the evening concludes with an open mic at approximately 9:45 p.m.

Saturday begins with a Songwriting Workshop at 9 a.m., followed by a panel discussion on Film and TV. After lunch, there will be another listening session, then a pair of panel discussions (Publishing and Do it Yourself). A last round of listening sessions precedes the climatic concert, which this year features James Otto, Jill Sobule, Chuck Cannon, Danny Myrick, Tim Fagan and more.
