Duran Duran to release new concert DVD and Blu-ray

Duran Duran has announced that footage shot at the band's recent show in Manchester, England, is coming to DVD and Blu-ray in mid-May.

Keyboardist Nick Rhodes will be "spending a bit of time in the studio finishing up the audio mix on the David Lynch film and the newly recorded show we shot in Manchester," the members of Duran Duran shared in a holiday message to fans.

Duran teamed up with director Lynch for an American Express "Unstaged" concert in the spring. Director Gavin Elder filmed the band's Manchester show.

As far as Duran's other plans for 2012, the band writes that it will "keep the 'show on the road' with dates in Australia, Asia, Europe, South America and the U.S. We also have a couple of surprises in store for our U.K. fans."

The band also thanked Duranies for their support during the past year, which included a span of several months during which vocalist Simon Le Bon was sidelined with throat problems.

As far as the coming DVD and Blu-ray, it may include several live performances of songs never before released in those formats. The band's "Live in London" DVD includes performances from its 2004 reunion tour, when guitarist Andy Taylor was still in the band.

Some of the newer songs played at the late December gig in Manchester included "Before the Rain," "All You Need is Now," "Blame the Machines," "Safe (In the Heat of the Moment)," "The Man Who Stole a Leopard" and "Girl Panic!"
