Duran Duran's Taylor earns top bassist honor, dual citizenship

Wednesday was a big day for Duran Duran bass player John Taylor: He was voted No. 1 on Music Radar's list of the top 60 bassists in the world and he became a dual citizen of the United States and England.

Duran Duran announced the news on social media. Taylor, who was born in Birmingham, has lived in Los Angeles for years and finally made his stateside stay official.

About the results of the reader-voted best bassist contest, Music Radar wrote: "Penning and performing basslines for Duran Duran's world-conquering hits ... John Taylor nailed technical runs while always serving the song. He's often hailed as an underrated player, so it's about time that he was given his due."

It also was a busy day for TV Mania, as the website went live for the Nick Rhodes side project.

In addition, Lomography is running a contest inspired by the TV Mania song "Beautiful Clothes," which it is streaming on its website. To hear the track and for more information, see
