Duran Duran, the popular 1980s English pop music group best known for songs like “Hungry Like the Wolf,” is taking its fan club – which is based in the Chicago area – to court. The fan club, which calls Glenview, Illinois its home, is being accused of breach of contract. The breach of contract is said to have occurred because the fan club did not give the music group the revenue it was promised, according to a CBS News report on Tuesday.

The lawsuit was filed Monday in Cook County Circuit Court. The lawsuit states that Duran Duran entered into a contract four years ago with Worldwide Fan Clubs Incorporated. Under that contract, the company allegedly promised it would create and manage a fan club. Additionally, Worldwide Fan Clubs Incorporated was supposed to warehouse and sell Duran Duran merchandise, as well as keep accurate records related to the fan club. Also, the firm was supposed to give Duran Duran 75 percent of all the profits while Worldwide Fan Clubs would keep a quarter of the profits. This allegedly didn’t happen.

According to the music group, Worldwide Fan Clubs Incorporated did not keep accurate accounting records of the transactions and did not make payments as promised to Duran Duran. NBC News is reporting that the band is seeking a minimum of $40,000. Sources to the news report say that Worldwide Fan Clubs Incorporated could not be contacted for their side of the story.

The English rock band, Duran Duran, was formed in Birmingham, England in 1978. The group has had 21 songs in the Billboard Hot 100 record charts. The band has sold in excess of 100 million records. In their homeland, they have had 14 Top 10 single recordings. The group was formed by Nick Rhodes and John Taylor and later added Roger Taylor. Andy Taylor and Simon LeBon were also in the group for a period of time.
