Dunwoody, GA—As Hemy Neuman’s attorney, Doug Peters, seeks to convince Georgia jurors that his client is the victim of a "Barry White-voiced demon" in the murder case of Rusty Sneiderman today, the community of Dunwoody is reeling from another crime of sorts.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported on Tuesday that a man prowling the area in a light blue minivan appears to be trolling for child victims in the community of Dunwoody.
One 10-year-old female resident of Wyntercreek Subdivision was alarmed when a man in a van attempted to engage her in conversation about her age. Not used to strangers pulling up alongside her in the community to talk about such matters, the girl fled the scene, seeking shelter from a nearby neighbor’s home.
After reporting the incident to her family, she is being lavished now with praise by police who are calling her, “A very quick thinker.”
Channel 2 reported that Dunwoody Police Department Sgt. Mike Carlson said,
“We need to identify this individual…and what his intent and motive was.”
The fact that the child was asked specifically about her age, rather than the location of a home in the area or other community details, suggests the van driver may be seeking to abduct a child of a particular age.
The brutal murder of 7-year-old Jorelys Rivera in Canton, Georgia started out as a missing child case. The suspect, Ryan Brunn, who committed suicide after receiving a conviction in the case earlier this year, was an employee at the apartment complex where the child resided.
Police in Dunwoody will, undoubtedly, consider all possibilities within the community and without, as they search for the man in the light blue van in Dunwoody.
