Dunkin Donuts robbery thwarted with hot coffee shower: See the shocking video

A Dunkin Donuts would-be robber got something more than he bargained for when he attempted to hold up a West Haven, Conn. Establishment Saturday night. The man drove up to the drive-thru window and asked the clerk for change for a $100 bill, according to CBS New York yesterday. The Dunkin Donuts worker refused, at which time the unidentified man announced it was a robbery and began trying to climb into the store through the drive-thru window.

When the worker refused change for the bill, she attempted to close the window which is when the suspect stopped her. The worker reacted by tossing a cup of hot coffee in the suspect’s face.

As the robbery suspect seemed to be retreating into his vehicle, the worker grabbed an entire pot of hot coffee and tossed it at the robber. The suspect sped away in a white Ford Explorer, Sgt. David Tammaro told the New Haven Register.

Check out the video taken from the surveillance camera on the left. There appeared to be a scary moment as the suspect was grabbing for something in his jacket or pants. While brave, police never encourage victims to confront criminals in this manner.

None the less, it is always nice to see the good guy prevail. The suspect was reported to be still on the loose as of Tuesday night. Anyone with information is asked to contact West Haven police at 203-937-3905.
