The Dunkin Donut store has been facing extinction in many parts of the country, e.g. Hawaii. However, its coffee has been creating a wide reach of awareness through television commercials and ads on social media websites. The question is, is the quality for the Dunkin Donut coffee overrated?
This is a tough question especially when the question is not specifically targeted to coffee drinkers in areas where there is access to Dunkin' Donut's coffee. According to reviews at shop.dunkindonuts.com, customers seem to be satisfied with the coffee that they purchased. Reading through the reviews though, the purchase of Dunkin's coffee (2-oz Mini-Brick Coffee) serves more as a gift than as for personal usage (e.g. wedding favors). Those reviewers that bought the coffee for personal use seems to like the idea that measuring and guesstimating is a thing in the past. Keurig lovers are also in support for Dunkin's coffee bean.
History: Although Dunkin' Donuts started off as a donut shop, their emphasis changed and geared towards developing more coffee products, and fancier coffee varieties. Dunkin' Donut is in competition with big brother "Starbucks". The target market may be different but they both have the capability in capturing coffee drinkers around the world, on the road and at home. According to fastcocreate website, Dunkin’ Donuts has now nearly 11,000 restaurants in 33 countries (about 7,000 in the U.S.). Big brother Starbucks, on the other hand, has 20,000 retail stores in 65 countries (11,000 of them in the U.S.). One amazing statistics on these two companies is that, if as a combined commodity, these two companies dominate around 60% of the US coffee market. Although Starbucks still stays in the lead as a coffee guru (36%), Dunkin' Donuts is not far behind with around 24% of the market share.
Dunkin' Donut has been doing a great job in creating awareness of their brand. Through TV commercials, social media websites, and radios, consumers are starting to take notice of Dunkin's coffee push.
Back to the question of over rated: This is probably a question for you to decide. Try their coffee and decide if they are as good as they appear to be!
