Dung fire threatens Kate Middleton's hometown

A dung fire in Bucklebury, Berkshire, is burning. According to a report date Jan. 4, the dung fire is the size of a football field and is in the process of burning itself out. Bucklebury is the hometown of Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.

The Sun also reported on Jan. 4 that firefighters were unable to extinguish the fire. Because of that, they are now leaving it alone and letting it burn itself out. It is possible that the fire could continue to burn for another four weeks.

“Oklahoma has had our share of wildfires,” Dan Michaels, from Oklahoma City, said. “I don't know of us ever having a dung fire. That must stink to high Heaven.

Plumes of smoke are drifting for miles. Residents of Bucklebury have been told to keep their windows closed and to stay inside their homes. They are also being told to protect their eyes as well as their skin. Anyone having difficulty breathing should see a medical professional as soon as possible.

Seeing the health hazard the dung fire is posing to residents, it is unlikely Kate Middleton will be visiting while the fire is still burning.
