Director Duncan Jones is finally bringing “World of Warcraft” to theaters in 2015. We do not have an exact release date as of yet but we do know it’s coming.
Legendary Pictures has asked Duncan Jones to helm the “World of Warcraft” action film that will be based upon the games and massively multi-player online role-playing game (MMORPG) produced by Blizzard Entertainment.
Jones has a good repertoire of sci-films under his belt. He helmed “Moon” and “Source Code,” both of which produced exclusive and layered characters in a genre that has yet to come up with a number of fantastic films.
Legendary is good to go when it comes to producing the “Warcraft” film. Legendary is stepping into the realm of sci-fi films that give the company a good name, or at least they are sounding good. We have yet to see “Godzilla,” the latest in their releases, along with the upcoming “Mass Effect” and “The Seventh Son.”
Charles Leavitt was brought in to pen the new script and replace the first one written by Robert Rodat of “Saving Private Ryan” fame. Leavitt wrote “The Seventh Son” for Legendary too.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the screenplay is being kept secret now that Jones has taken on the director’s position.
While the designs and characters of Azeroth have a rich appearance in the game, it may be a bit difficult for Jones to achieve the same feel in the film. “World of Warcraft” hosts many chances at creating a great film on the other hand, allowing the imagination to flow with characters and story arcs that will outdo all other films of this type.
Warner Bros. is interested in signing Johnny Depp to star, however, with the upcoming “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” in production, it may be an impossible feat.
“World of Warcraft” begins filming this fall for a 2015 release. More information will be given as it comes, in terms of an exact release date and trailer.
