‘Dummy of Year Award’ – Fake Cop Cuffed After Pulling Over Real Police Officer

The end of the year dummy award has to go to a man arrested in Florida by a real police officer after he posed as a fake one. The disguise may have been left over from Halloween but the real cop was not laughing and he busted Jonathan Stevens, 24, in Tampa, according to Fox News.

Unfortunately for Stevens, the vehicle that he pulled over was unlucky for him, because when he began to tell the suspicious officer that he was a Department of Homeland Security officer, his mannerisms did not sit right with her, reported Fox News.

Here is where the “Dummy of the Year Award” comes into play. It seems that this was not the first time that Jonathan Charles Stevens has impersonated a police officer. According to the Tampa Tribune, the fake cop was arrested September 7th after impersonating an officer. On that day “the Manatee sheriff’s deputies arrested him after hearing a siren and watching him turn on blue and red lights on his Tahoe, reported the Tampa Tribune.

This time as in September Stevens was booked for impersonating a police officer and illegal use of flashing blue lights. He was also charged with carrying an unregistered concealed firearm. It seems the police in Manatee or Tampa take kindly to a police impersonator who carries an unregistered Glock .45-caliber handgun and wears a fake police badge around his neck.

For Stevens’ sake hopefully he will not perform a repeat act in 2014. Stevens, who was released Monday when he posted $17,500 bail, may need to consider his legal options. If he is convicted the legal authorities may send him to a real Florida prison with real guards where he will do real time, and with no flashing blue lights.
