Dum Dum Girls Tour, New Album

The Dum Dum Girls are coming to the Oakland area in October but fans can get a taste of their new album today. Pre-order for the Dum Dum Girls second album, Only in Dreams, began yesterday and offers a limited edition of a white vinyl 7” of “Coming Down” b/w “Crystal Baby,” and a light pink vinyl edition of their Loser Edition LP (while supplies last). The album is being released on September 23 and can be ordered early at subpop.com.

Oakland fans can hear the new tracks live when the Dum Dum Girls come to the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco on October 4. The stop is part of the band’s Fire of Love Tour with Crocodiles, Colleen Green and Royal Baths. Tickets are $17 in advance and $19 at the door. A dinner ticket is also available from gahmtickets.com for $41.95. Royal Baths will not be at the Great American Music Hall date.

Different from their self-titled EP in ’09, and their debut album in 2010, I Will Be, this will be the first release where all four Dum Dum Girls play and sing on the album. While Jules (lead guitar), Bambi (bass) and Sandy (drums, percussion) brought their own talent to the past releases, including this year’s EP He Gets Me High, the music has mainly been centered on Dee Dee.

Only in Dreams still has Dee Dee at its core as it deals with her losing her mother and balancing touring with a life outside of the band. Even with the lyrics being all Dee Dee, it will be interesting to hear how the four blend together on the new album.
