According to Ign.com, a new game has been released on iOS devices. That game is “Duke Nukem II,” a rerelease of the original “Duke Nukem II,”which released 20 years ago on PC. This rerelease is to commemorate the 20 year anniversary of its original release. The game was released on April 2, 2013 at a price of $1.99. The game is available on all iOS devices released after (and including) the third generation iPod Touch.
“Duke Nukem II” stars the titular Duke Nukem, who is a muscular man that runs-and-guns his way through 2D platforming levels. Duke Nukem has been known as one of the most vulgar characters in the video game world, and that vulgarity is present even in this early game in his franchise. The game plays similarly to the “Contra” series, though “Duke Nukem” is not quite as hectic as “Contra.” The player shoots enemies that come from all directions and can pick up items to improve their weapons and heal the character. There are a variety of weapons to choose from, though the number of different weapons may seem lacking to players used to modern games. The graphics and music are similar to the original release, though they are reformatted for the iOS devices. Some of the artwork and music, however, has been changed. Players can interact with the environment to traverse the levels and defeat their enemies. The game comes packed with 32 levels, and the ability to submit scores to online leaderboards.
